Pru Goudie, founder of Adventure Travel Networking, has today confirmed to TTG Media Ltd. that the event scheduled to take place at the Royal Geographical Society on 5 February will now be a virtual event run over two afternoons. "I’ve been exploring a contingency plan for some time now as the uncertainty has continued to mount over the last few weeks," said Goudie. "With government guidelines regarding Covid-19 continually changing, and at times with very little notice, it was becoming increasingly more difficult to guarantee an in-person event at the Royal Geographical Society.
“In an ever-changing landscape the one thing the trade needs right now is certainty. By offering a virtual event it guarantees certainty and the ability to plan properly and deliver a successful conference and marketplace." TTG Media is media partner for the event.
Goudie went on to add: "I’ve been liaising closely with the adventure travel community and it is clear that they do not want the event to be delayed beyond February, having already been postponed from May 2020. "It’s been such a challenging year for everyone and I needed to gauge what the appetite was for a virtual event.
"I’m delighted to say that the appetite is very much alive for both a supplier/buyer marketplace and conference bringing the community together, so it’s now full steam ahead. "I am committed to doing all I can to help get the adventure travel community back up on its feet again. The trade is beginning to forward plan now for 2021 and there are a lot of conversations that need to be had, so I’m excited to offer a virtual conference to kick off a more positive 2021.”
The event will run over two afternoons, Thursday and Friday 4 and 5 February 2021.
