Adventure Travel Networking has joined 'Tourism Declares' a new network of organisations, companies and individuals working in tourism to join other industries and regions in declaring a climate emergency. We commit to the following;
1. Help to publicly grow the movement
Adventure Travel Networking organises an annual conference and marketplace, which takes place in February. On Friday 5th February 2021 we offered a platform to the Tourism Declares movement, inviting founding members involved to discuss and help educate the trade on how they can also be involved. You can watch the lively panel discussion that took place at the ATN 2021 Conference - HERE
Includes: Alex Narracott - Much Better Adventures; Daniel Turner – ANIMONDIAL; Prue Stone - Explore, Chris Haslam - Chief travel writer at the Sunday Times
2. Work together
Adventure Travel Networking will encourage suppliers and partners participating in the conference and marketplace to make the same declaration; share best practice amongst peers; and actively participate in the Tourism Declares community.
3. Advocate for change
Recognise the need for system change across the industry, and call for urgent regulatory action to accelerate the transition towards zero carbon air travel.
4. Share our commitment
Working closely with our UK clients on PR and marketing activities, we will actively encourage them to make the same declaration. Some have already acted.
5. Help clients develop a 'Climate Emergency' plan and to cut carbon emissions
We pledge to work with our clients and conference participators to develop a climate emergency plan and to accept current IPCC advice stating the need to cut global carbon emissions to 55% below 2017 levels by 2030.
