▶️ ATN NewsBlast Extra - $10million to help threatened communities and wildlife
Updated: May 20, 2021
Wildlife Rangers across Africa are facing drastic cuts in salaries and resources, leaving their families destitute and wildlife helpless against poachers.
On 3 October 2020, ranger teams are uniting around the Wildlife Ranger Challenge to raise money to help thousands of their colleagues, enabling them to support themselves and their communities and to protect iconic African wildlife such as elephants, pangolins, rhinos, and lions.
This is core to the DNA of everything the Adventure Travel Networking community stands for and collectively we have the opportunity to invest in this initiative and help raise up to $10million to support rangers and protect wildlife.
People and wildlife are the soul of adventure travel in Africa and in this NewsBlast Extra we drill right down to see what a difference this sum of money could make on the ground. At the time of publishing the UK Africa travel trade initiative #Ride4Rangers has already raised £135,000 and still going.
Speaking with Sarah Marshall, Travel Editor of the Press Association and Tanzanian based Wildlife Ranger training expert, Jean Du Plessis we hear more about this impressive challenge and more importantly, how you can get involved!
